Buy this! You won't be disappointed!! August 28, 2008 Well what can i say? Juliana has never failed to come up with the goods on any of her albums, and "How to walk away" is no exception. From start to finish, this album rocks!!! And i don't mean that in a way that it's trashy, indie-pop, like some of it's predecessors, but in a "complete" and more grown-up sort of way than anything else she has done really. I have been a fan of JH for a very long time, and own all of her albums, and i absolutely love the way she interchanges her sound between the rockin-out stuff and the soft ballads. But this is one of her quieter albums, and is fairly consistant throughout, and for her - fairly mainstream i'd say! But that's not a bad thing. There's no sudden screaching guitars. No frenzied guitar solos either! This is a woman in her prime delivering a very mature, beautiful set of catchy pop songs. This could quite easily be played on indie-type stations like XFM/Kerrang, or on more mainstream ones like Radio 2. It just works either way you look at it! If you don't like this, then i guess you probably must be deaf!!? ha ha
Heading for the mainstream? August 18, 2008 Another quality release from Juliana Hatfield...
Having been a fan for more years than I care to admit, it's always intriguing to see what she sounds like this time - solo acoustic? Band grunge? Solo electric?
Well, I certainly didn't expect this! The album kicks off sounding like it's going to turn into a country album - no, seriously, I'm not joking. Ultimately, it doesn't, but what you do get from this album is some of the most polished and mainstream work that JH has released since the near-chart bothering days of The Juliana Hatfield Three. Some great vocals married to some top tunes - who could ask for anything more?
That said, this is still distinctively Juliana, and a joy to listen to.
