Amazon.co.uk Review
Trent Reznor has always been a one-trick-pony, but it's a damn good trick: sunny melodies filtered through ferocious electronics. Unfortunately, the trick's impact was often watered down by a tendency toward petulance and self-absorption. Still, almost six years after NIN's last release, The Fragile, the trick itself has lost none of its Teen-Beat-from-hell appeal. With Teeth blisters from the start with "All the Love in the World," and tracks like "The Collector" take full advantage of Dave Grohl's sledgehammer drumming. Reznor stretches occasionally, trying out different tactics, from crunchy, overtly commercial rave-ups ("The Hand That Feeds") to borderline New Wave ("Only"). But Teeth isn't about stretching. It's about doing the same trick, only better, with less clutter and more bite. By neatly distilling the sparseness of Pretty Hate Machine with Downward Spiral-style density, it ends up being the most focused record in the NIN catalogue. --Matthew Cooke

3 out of 5 stars Patchy   April 1, 2008
In my younger days when PHM and TDS were doing the rounds i was purely into rock and had no taste for electronica, and never really discovered i actually liked NIN til the last couple of years. By the time i heard With Teeth tho i was much more familiar with the bands other material, and so i was left with the impression that this album wasn't a brand new studio album in its own right but more a collection of outtakes taken from the PHS, TDS and The Fragile sessions, re-recorded/remastered for With Teeth.
Reznor's undeniable genius is evident in a few of the tracks; the title track With Teeth and Right Where It Belongs being my particular favorites, alot of the material harkens back to the previous different eras of NIN so strongly i was just left with the feeling that they belonged with those albums but weren't good enough to make it onto them.
Whereas the other albums have a common thread, a unity, With Teeth feels like a pretty disjointed affair with a few highlights on an overall mediocre album. Still it's worth buying if only for With Teeth, Sunspots and Right Where It Belongs.

5 out of 5 stars Trent Reznor delivers yet again   March 28, 2008
The 4th album from Nine Inch Nails, one of the most influential alternative rock bands in the past decade. From a man whose past albums have spawned from the creative side effects of alcohol, drug abuse, anxiety and depression. With Teeth proves that Mr Reznor is a great musician with or without drugs and alcohol. Trent has channeled his feelings and opinions into a melodic, destructive and intense sound. Yes, there is still nihilistic, and depressing lyrics but at the same time there is a feeling of postivity and optimism. Something that was missing in the Downward Spiral and Pretty Hate Machine.

The album is consistent, this is a positive aspect with a small downside - the "sound" of this album is less raw and dark as other NIN albums. The consistent sound of heavy bass and eerie high guitar does get a bit tedious on the ears. This is after rinsing the album though, Ive been listening to it on and off for a year. Some songs such as "All the love in the world", "Only" and "The Line begins to blur" and "right where it belongs" require a few listens to really get into - which gives the album more depth.

This is one of NIN's best albums without a doubt. I also reccommend to watch the live versions of these songs on the "Beside you in time" DVD. Songs like "beside you in time", "love is not enough" and "The line begins to blur" sound a thousand times better live. To an extent every song on this album is brought up to a new, higher level when played live. In fact If you've only got enough money to buy one or the other I would reccommend the DVD hands down. Ive seen alot of bands live and Mr Reznors live set-up is on a completely different level. Just listen to Jeordie Whites bass on "only"..

After hearing lots of Marilyn Manson fans talk about NIN and in his I decided to give them a try and I was suprised at how good they are. Trent rocks and this is an essiantial album for fans anyway. Although they may not be my favourite band they are close

1. Marilyn Manson
2. AC/DC
3. Metallica
4. Nine inch Nails
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers.

5 out of 5 stars FULL ON   July 25, 2007

I love this album...i was first drawn to it cause i heard and saw the video of "only" on youtube and it just clicked with my state of mind. It is very profound and moody, full on and cutting and diverse. It floats from full on to abstract tript out moments breaking suddenly into full on and heavy again which some people who like an album to flow smoothly in one genre may find a little inconsistent. There are slow gentle haunting tunes on this album and fast and heavy tunes/parts on this album and then also slow gentle that become fast heavy and vice versa. When i say Full on and heavy i am meaning slightly more up tempo excited/frustrated and assertive sounding lyrics with hard riffs moving the song along. I think there is one swear word on this album if you are sensitive to these : )

5 out of 5 stars Will satisfy your every emotion... in time...   July 13, 2007

This album washed over me the first few listens, only the singles stood out apart from the wanderful "All the love in the world".

After seeing them play live, however, one track stayed in my head as one of the most powerful musical moments I have ever witnessed! That track was 'Beside You in Time'...

As soon as I was back from that amazing gig, I started rotating the album quite heavily and it took on a whole new dimension. Beside You In Time has become my track of the year and the whole album has grown on me to the extent every track is mind blowing... The more intense tracks like 'You Know What You Are' and 'Getting Smaller' are supremely satisfying when turned very loud, and are balanced nicely by tracks like "Sunspots" and "Every Day is Exactly the Same"... finishing on the perfect "Beside You In Time" which leads on to "Right Where it Belongs".

To me this album transcends everything that went before. It is a modern masterpiece...
