I know i'm repreating everyone... but this is the best album i've heard in a long time. November 30, 2008 The first song I heard from this album was Halo, and since then i've been hooked. I can't get through a week without listening to Halo, Clenching the Fist of Dissent and Beautiful Mourning. If your looking for something that you can express your anger with, this is the album. It has those calming bits throughout songs acompanied by heavy, incredibly fast riffs. The vocals are good, though not the best. It's the guitars that you're really listening to, but it's worth it. I would recommend this album to any metal fan, especially those lovers of headbanging. Five stars, incredible music.
One bloody amazing album. July 14, 2008 Well, this is a bloody wicked metal album. I never bought a Machine Head album before, and about a year ago the hype was really massive and i have heard the song aethetics of hate and it blew me away, i bought the album and i must say this album rocks, so many brilliant solos here it's hard to keep up the riffs are great too. These are influenced by some of Heavy metals greats Iron Maiden & Metallica(which is one of the thing that got my attention). The whole album is amazing,it's obvious these guys are passionate about the music. The guitarists are amazing, the drumming is really fast and the lyrics are good. This is an awesome buy for any metal fan. Machine head are another great example of true metal. Keep the metal real brothers.
One of the best albums of all time? I think so.... June 6, 2008 I bought this album a while back, and at first thought "yeah it's ok", put it down and forgot about it for a while.
When I went back to it, it suddenly dawned on me how absolutely stunning this album is, literally EVERY song on this album is good. It reminds me of the early Metallica albums - but dare I say it - this is better. There is no point at which I think "OK, now just get to the point", like in some of the eight minute songs that Metallica produced. No, the songs on this album are much more focused more direct. When listening to `A Farewell To Arms', I was upset that it ended, and had no idea that it is over 10 minutes long.
I can't remember the last time that I've listened to an album at least once a day for the last 2-3 months without getting bored of it. Rob Flynns vocals are just outstanding, and so are the guitars, and so is the drumming - everything. Absolutely brilliant. Please buy this album - it's a masterpiece.
Well done Machine Head.

A return to form for Machine Head March 14, 2008 Having been a fan of MH since they first started out I found myself gradually not listening to them very much after they released The Burning Red. Through The Ashes passed me by until I read a few reviews about the blackening and decided to give them another go, and boy was I not disappointed!! This album is their best since Burn My Eyes and The More Things Change, every song is immense - awesome guitars, drumming and vocals and it is relentless in a good way! I can't think of a bad song on the album and every time I listen to it I find myself air guitaring like theres no tomorrow. This is up there in the albums you should listen to before you die, so go on, buy it! You won't regret it I promise!
