Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Nimrod came along two years after 1995's Insomniac and was the first indication of Green Day's willingness to stretch the boundaries of punk rock. The fullness of the record is first hinted at on "Hitchin' a Ride", which starts out chug-a-lugging and then breaks into a raging rocker. "Redundant" is accented with some psyched-out guitar work and has Billie Joe Armstrong singing a good deal more than usual. The wonderful "Platypus (I Hate You)" speed-rocks with abandon and recalls the early days of L.A. punk (a little Dickies here, a little Descendents there). The biting "Take it Back" is a snarling throwback to hard punk, and "Prosthetic Head" is an infectious ditty that counts among the very best on the album. Most surprising is "Last Ride In", an instrumental nod to the sensual surf-and-sun life. Of course, the crown jewel of the collection is the sentimental, acoustic "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)", which seemed nearly inescapable when it was released. Beyond these standouts, even the "usual" Green Day fare here has punch. --Lorry Fleming

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!   February 4, 2008

This album is amazing!!!! I bought the album AMERICAN IDIOT back in 2004 and loved it - my favourite album EVER. So I decided to invest in some other albums that Green Day have made.
This album has lots of amzing songs on it, he best being 'Good Riddance(Time Of Your Life)'. 'Scattered' is a cool little pop-rock tune with an excellent chorus. The song 'Take back' is one of the grittiest songs Green Day have done with the lead singer verging on screaming during certain parts of the song. 'King For A Day' provides a song with refreshingly different lyrics and a good chorus.
I think that is what makes this album so excellent: Green Day cover lots of different genres of rock so there is something for everyone. NIMROD is one of the best albums ever made.

4 out of 5 stars A good album   August 29, 2007

I know other reviewers have said how they have to be in the right mood to listen to it, and I agree with them. This is not as good as American Idiot, but is fun and rocky just the same. It is not a waste of money, and I really recommend buying it.

Includes the singles: Hitchin' A Ride, Good Riddance (Time of your Life), Redundant and Nice Guys Finish Last

4 out of 5 stars Ten Years On   March 11, 2007

After ten years since the release of this album, this is still a good Green Day album. Many people who I know believe this is their strongest album. Only 'Good Riddance' is the most played track off this album on the music channels.

I don't personally feel that this is their strongest album and I tend to have to be in the right mood to listen to it and enjoy it, where as 'Dookie & Insomniac' impress stright away.

I would certainly recommend buying it though, 18 tracks makes it good value too.

4 out of 5 stars Another good album   November 23, 2006

This is another good Green Day album. Most of the tracks are worth listening to. Nice Guys Finish Last, The Grouch, Redundant, Scattered, All the Time, Worry Rock,Uptight, Walking Alone and Prosthetic Head are all good songs. Jinx, Haushinka and Reject are a bit samey for me. Platypus is too fast to really grow on you and Take Back is a bit too heavy. Last Ride In is good but I think you have to be in a certain kind of mood to listen to it. The best tracks are Hitchin' A Ride, King For A Day and Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life).

4 out of 5 stars Better Than Expected!   April 27, 2006

Nimrod then....turned out to be better then I expected. Insomniac is still my fave album as far as punk is concerned. However this album is good and has many highlights. Hithcin' In A Ride Rocks! Nimrod Is in My Top 3 Green Day Albums.
