Amazon.co.uk Review Terrific sales of their independent Cheshire Cat got Blink-182 signed to a major label (MCA) for 1997's Dude Ranch, which led to US radio hits ("Dammit" and "Josie") and platinum sales. No "sell-out" on the band's part, though, as Dude Ranch simply features another infectious collection of snotty vocals, punchy rhythms, vivid lyrics, and aggressive chords. San Diego producer Mark Trombino shines some of the scuffed edges, but this is still good ol' Blink at its sunny, effervescent best. Nice "emocore" spoof here ("Emo"), plus an odd knack for crafting bass-lines that recall--seriously!--New Order, and vocal harmonies that owe debts to the Beach Boys. --Mark Woodlief

Hmmmmmmmm... April 4, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is not Blink 182's best album, no. It's still good but just lacks the wow factor, plus it doesn't have Travis as the drummer. I don't like the rawness of the songs. My favourite song on it is Dammit, also Enthused and Untitled are good. Degenerate is hilarious. This album is good but not my favourite is you like Cheshire Cat then this'll be for you. If you like TOYPAJ maybe not.
Dammit! this is album is amazing!!!!!! November 24, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Blink 182 are my favourite band in the world, and to pick a favourite album by them is real hard because they're all fantastic. However, Dude Ranch takes it. This album IS the pop punk genre, this is the benchmark. it has a raw quality that the later over produced albums lack, and the vocal harmonies between Tom and Mark are the best i've heard from them. Also on this album, the lyrics are much better and more thoughtful than on previous, or even later records. This album opens with the best three song opening ever. First 'pathetic' fast upbeat opener, then 'voyeur', a clever song about spying on a woman from a tree. Then the best song on the album and the best blink song ever, 'dammit' The lyrics in this song are the best i've heard from blink, and Mark proves once again why he is the best singer/songwriter in the band, singing with heartfelt conviction and passion. The album also contains great pop punk songs such as 'josie'. 'waggy', 'apple shampoo' 'untitled'... wait, i could be here all day! they're all great. Trust me,if you want to here blink doing their best harmonies, singing their best lyrics and playing their best songs then this IS the album to buy. It may not be as poppy and commercial as Enema and TOYPAJ but it strikes a better balance between poppy and punk. Awesome!!!!
Brilliant August 22, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is blink 182's second studio recorded album and what a great one it is. The album itself is not quite as punky as the album before it "Cheshire Cat" but not quite as pop as Enema or Take off your pants & jacket. Dammit has to be the best track with great lyrics and a hell of an opening riff. Pathetic the opening track is great with Mark and Tom both singing which the two dont do alot in this album as they do in the latest. Voyeur another amazing tune which makes you smile and laugh is probably one off my favourites. Emo is another great track, named by its emo sounding style has a really catchy chorus. All the songs on this album are great it has no mess around tracks like Cheshire Cat. Just all really good songs. If you like Cheshire Cat then this is the Album for you you will love it. If you are only familiar with Blinks newer stuff from Enema onwards then You might find it harder to enjoy but saying that this album has brilliant songs and in my opinion it is blink at there best. enjoy!!!
Quite possibly the best thing EVA!!!! March 26, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well, if you have never heard blink, then this is what you are missing. Not only are they the best band on the face of the earth, they also have the best album eva too! With tracks like 'Dammit' and 'voyeur' then you really can't go wrong. The only thing that is better than this in the way of music is the live album, which is a mixture of this and enema. This is feel good music, and there is nothing else like it. If you have never heard blink then i urge u to buy this!! NOW!
