BRILLIANT January 12, 2008 suffer is one classic album...never get bored of this album HOT TRACKS. best for you . when . give you nothing .
DEFINITELY the best of all time! August 17, 2005 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This album, which I originally bought on vinyl and now own on CD, is, in my opinion, not only the best Bad Religion album, not only the best PUNK album of all time, but actually THE best album of all time, full stop. It's fast, but it's clear, Greg Graffin's lyrics are the best ever written, it contains THE best punk song ever... 'Do What You Want'. Yes, of course this is all very subjective and debatable, but that's what personal reviews are all about. I bought it first about 15 years ago and played it about 5 times a day, everyday for months... which is usually enough to kill any album... but I still love it now ... never got bored. Personally I rate it even higher than BAD BRAINS'- Rock for Light... Even higher than DK's Fresh Fruit...EVEN higher than Discharge's Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing... and believe me (if your unfortunate enough to not know this already), that's really good ... expletively good!
Bad Religion at their Best! October 28, 2004 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
In my opinion this is the perfect album for anyone to buy if they are starting to get into punk rock or want to branch out from the safer regions of a "pop-punk" band. Despite Bad religions music becoming slightly "tamer" in their later years they should still be classified as punk rather than Pop punk. So, in regards to the album "suffer", it is a fast paced, sarcasm filled album and if that isnt enough the lyrics are probably the best i have ever encountered. Even by judging the lyrical content against Bad Religion's previous high standards, it is amazing. To be honest i cannot single out any one track on the album as being a "poor" track or even worse than above average. My particular favourites are "land of competition" "Part II (the numbers game" and "how much is enough", all of which are face paced and surprisingly catchy. I reiterate my previous thoughts and would therefore recommend "suffer" to anyone getting into punk or current punk fans who have not descovered the delights of this album. I can guarantee it will not be taken out of your CD player, one of the best punk albums of all time, if you don;t already have it, i strongly recommend that you buy it.
WOW, WOW AND....WELL... WOW!! October 1, 2004 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Upon it's release Suffer was hailed as "Best Album Of The Year" by punk authorities Flipside and Maximum Rock 'n Roll, and has come to be thought of as having revitalized the languishing punk scene of the mid-'80s. The first LP to employ the dual guitar attack via the permanent addition of ex-Circle Jerk Greg Hetson, Suffer showed the band as one of the world's most thought-provoking punk outfits. A blueprint for the punk explosion of the early '90s, Suffer stepped up production values with Gurewitz's full spectrum sound recording and the considerable vocal prowess of a young Greg Graffin. Forget the so-called punk your hearing on the radio stations and enter a whole new category of punk. Not for Blink fans.....
BEST ALBUM EVER!!! June 7, 2004 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This album is, I think, the best album ever released. This album uses a perfect blend of pop and hardcore which became unbalanced on later albums. Oh yeah, it also has the best lyrics ever written. Definitely the best album you'll ever buy.1. You Are (the Government) 10/10 - Great, fast song with brilliant lyrics. 2. 1000 More Fools 10/10 - Wow. Who'd have thought you'd ever find words like "inchoate" and "obsequious" in a punk rock song? 3. How Much Is Enough 10/10 - Another great song, one of the best on the CD. 4. When? 10/10 - Also great, a bit similar to the previous track, but the previous track was great! 5. Give You Nothing 8/10 - My least favourite on the CD. It still rocks, just not as much as the others. 6. Land of Competition 10/10 - My favourite song of ALL TIME! Couldn't agree with the lyrics more. 7. Forbidden Beat 10/10 - Again, rather similar to the previous song, but if the previous song was so good, then this can't be bad! 8. Best For You 9/10 - Cool sarcastic song. 9. Suffer 10/10 - Really cool title track, the alternative lyrics were better though (in the All Ages booklet)! 10. Delirium of Disorder 10/10 - Again, great lyrics, and actually a bit of humour for a change! How often do you hear humour in a BR song? 11. Part II (the Numbers Game) 10/10 - My second favourite on the CD, mainly because of the lyrics. 12. What Can You Do? 10/10 - Really cool song, with a nice key change in the chorus. 13. Do What You Want 10/10 - Fastest, catchiest song BR ever wrote! Lyrics aren't as good as on other songs, but who cares? 14. Part IV (the Index Fossil) 9/10 - The lyrics are cool, as I'm sure any archaeologist will agree, but the music isn't that good. 15. Pessimistic Lines 10/10 - Great song to end with. What are you reading my review for? BUY IT!
