NOT A GOOD JOE CD SAD FOR 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY October 27, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Went to one of Joe's 50th Anniversary gigs last week where he did some of the tracks from this new album.I have to say this is a real let down,Joe is a legend,a truly great entertainer without question but, some of the songs here just don't cut it done by him. The new single 'Everybody's Famous' sounds like a watered down Status Quo cast off, and his bluegrass type version of U2's 'Still Haven't Found' is the worst cover I've ever heard. His versions of Dylan's 'Stay Young' isn't much better, also the version here of 'Wishing Well' fairs little better.Joe deserves better than this, the whole album is really saved by his wonderful version of George Harrison's fabulous song 'That's The Way It Goes',should have been the single.Post Beatles George was far and away the best of the fabulous four, this song proves it.Joe is so good at his friend Georges songs he should make an album of them,it really would be something really special indeed.Joe I greatly admire you and thank you for fifty years of true great music, this one sadly is a let down for me,but of course it's only my opinion, and I'll remain a fan of the musical legend anyway. The single should have been this GH song because everyone would have played it and sang along with it,classic stuff, shame about the album overall though.

Better with age October 18, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I first saw Joe on stage in 1963 - and I also saw him again this year! This CD is excellent!! Some of the songs are already featured in his stage show - should you get chance to see him, please do!! Another terrific release from one of Britains most loved performers. BUY!!!!
Another winner from Joe October 14, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've really got into Joe recently; bought all the CD's I can from Amazon and the concert DVD as well - all very good. This is no exception!
The choice of songs is excellent, as is the musicianship, but Joe is the star as his guitar and vocals dominate.
It certainly is More of the Truth, rather than the pretentious bull that many modern artists try to peddle. No posing, just great music lovingly played.
Enjoy...
