Terrible, old fashioned nonsense from a dull performer November 30, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Very very bland, like the performer himself. Not recommended. Simon Cowell must be gutted the wrong man won
Well Done Leon ! November 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am delighted that someone so young is dedicated to developing this genre of music - I love this album and his performances on television are going from strength to strength (particularly loved his Children in Need performance). I also find it exciting that Leon has accumulated an ever increasing number of younger fans who are now listening to and appreciating 'real' music. I find it bizarre however that he is frequently compared to Leona and Rhydian on various websites and forums. I would never consider comparing for example Il Divo with Take That or Katherine Jenkins with Beyonce - so why make comparisons of former X factor contestants who obviously perform such different musical genres ??? Anyway - loved the album so much that I booked tickets for his concert and I am really looking forward to hearing the dulcet tones of Mr Jackson live. I wish him the very best of luck with his future career in music . p.s. dont be influenced by 'Rockinrock's' review - he is a Rhydian fan who is deliberately low scoring Leon's album - I would be very surprised if he has even listened to it- what a sad way to pass time ????
Leon Who? November 27, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Never watched the X-Factor so I had never heard of this artist, until I watched BBC Children In Need. I thought he was very good and like the song he performed on that show, so I took a chance and bought this album.
I was blown away. He really has the perfect voice for this kind of music. A mixture of jazz, ballads and swing, a real 'laid-back' album. Can't say there was a track on the album I did not like.

Nope, don't bother, this is a damp squib. If you are a dyed-in-the-wool Leon fan then no doubt you'll lap this up, but I'm afraid this lad is just way too vocally limited.
Putting aside any preconceptions, what you basically have is him mumbling his way through maybe one or two catchy tunes and then a lot of filler. Leon is clearly someone who can carry a tune but his voice is utterly unremarkable and lacks range, power or clarity. In truth you'd probably get the same at 2am in any Karaoke club.
Save money on the album and simply wait around in a lift, on hold when phoning a call centre or in a supermarket, you're bound to hear something very similar sooner or later. It's not actually bad as such, just very very bland.
As I thought November 23, 2008 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
I actually have avoided X Factor this year because of the farce of Leon winning last year. However, a friend of mine, a Leon fan, insisted I listen to this album with her on a girlie night. It was the worst girlie night of my life and only reaffirmed my low opinion. Leon simply cannot sing. Gave me a worse headache than the alcohol I imbibed.
