Maybe think again? March 15, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Excellent BUT... I thought the the spoken words would be a bonus but they are in German. With hindsight I should have picked a different recording without them - or with them in Latin or English.
Annoyed by BOOM BOX music? Get Your Own Back!! April 11, 2006 18 out of 29 found this review helpful
Wow! Wow! Wow! If you are fed up with the boy racers and their boom boxes with rap (I can't call it music)and you want revenge then you MUST get this! Mozart at his best! Played at full blast in the car makes your hair stand on end and the music is just beautiful. You'll turn heads and get quite a few thumbs up from passers by! Seriously though, the requiem is fantastic, evokes all sorts of emotions and I could listen to it again and again. This recording is superb. keep a box of tissues ready though, it is one of the most moving and hauntingly beautiful pieces of music you will ever hear.
The best recording of the Requiem (I think!) November 20, 2003 49 out of 50 found this review helpful
This recording, for me is the closest you'll get to listening to the Requiem in it's "Pure" form. recorded in the cathederal setting with the fabulous Vienna Philharmonic, the inclusion of the spoken word makes this a truly spine tingling experience. The loaded significance of the anniversary of Mozart's death, along with the power of Solti's direction make this an essential
