After the brilliant Tranquilize, this is disapointing February 17, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful

It's cheesy, and not in a good way. Brandon's unique vocal sound seems to be becoming more and more pronounced over time and it can begin to drag on the casual listener. The artwork is cheesy too as is the spoken word parts to the song.
It seems almost as if the Killers only released this song almost as a tradition to see if they could follow up the success of last year's fun A Great Big Sled.
It's not all bad though, while the verses may come across as lacklustre, the chorus is pretty damn good and suitably epic in that unique Killers style. Fans will lap this single up and to be fair, i think it has a lot of potential to grow with repeated listens but it just doesn't grab like so many of the Killers' other songs do.
NOTE: There's two versions of this single with the same barcode - one is the UK release which comes in a standard slimline single case whereas the American version comes in a card case.

i love the killers and also hope they are xmas no1. Not the boring x factor! Does anyone know if they are bringing out any other singles or albums?
Now this is what a Christmas single should be all about... December 15, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Though their second album may have been a severe slide down the pan (at least, for those of us who were fans of Hot Fuss more, myself included), The Killers have still got a great knack for excellent singles. Their Christmas ones certainly seem to be among them, and following last year's accomplished offering "Great Big Sled" they bring us "Don't Shoot Me Santa".
There's a bit of darkly comic narrative as Brandon Flowers adopts the role of robbing child taken hostage by the bearded man himself, all set to the throbbing, addictive synths/guitars we love them for. And it is for this reason that I can think of no other song, with the possible exception of Malcolm Middleton or Sugababes, more deserving of this year's Christmas #1. So come on thinking people of Britain, let's have an actual Christmas #1, and not other year of weepy X Factor ballads.
