Celtic corker December 8, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
A little gem of a cd; there are quite a few songs that I had never heard before which makes it a change from the normal Christmas carol compilations - though for all I know they may be Celtic (or Irish) standards. The instrumentation, as one might expect from the title, includes harps, pipes whistles and guitars as well as strings and is very nicely done; as someone else has remarked the effect is otherworldly in parts, and in others I find it attractively 'ancient'. I would thoroughly recommend this cd as something to listen to in it's own right or as background music whilst putting the tree up, which I suspect is what most people would want it for. An absolute snip at the price too !!
different, nice but a bit twee! December 1, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have this album, it's ok, there are a couple of nice tracks, some very odd tracks and some that are a bit twee - ~It is an 'irish' cd, but not as good as clannad, enya, moya brennan. It's ok for Background Music.
I would rather listen Moya Brenan's Irish Christmas!
EXCELLENT AND UNUSUAL January 21, 2001 38 out of 45 found this review helpful
what an excellent c.d.! this is no run-of-the-mill christmas album. the selection of songs is unlike any other, and the music and singing are other-worldly, transporting you away from this mortal sphere. the only thing that could possibly be better would be for enya to put out a christmas album! i'm buying copies for all my family for next christmas. i'd recommend this c.d. to absolutely anyone!
