This re-issue of Dilla's Ruff Draft EP, originally released on Mummy records, is everything you would expect from the fallen beatmaker-extraordinaire. Its rough, uncompromising and straight up raw, while still displaying Dilla's trademark soul and funk undertones - its these kinds of beats that keeps hiphop going! If you are a fan of J Dilla then you will no doubt have either bought it already, or you will have it on your wish list. And even if you are not familiar with the works of the late James Yancey, it really is worth checking out. The legacy lives on!
