Amazon.co.uk Review With A Girl Like Me, the Barbadian teen-queen Rihanna is looking to transfer all claims of royalty to the summertime pop charts. If anybody's going to rule them, she pretty much proclaims by way of "SOS," a song no less irresistible, intoxicating, and all-out cool than 2005's "Pon de Replay," off her debut, she's it. That's not to say this new disc is anything like its predecessor overall. Where Music of the Sun was mostly what its title suggests--a romp through an anglo-friendly island with no sunscreen required--A Girl Like Me is more reflective and a little rueful; you get the sense it was crafted in part to show her range, with executive producer Jay-Z guiding her through it gracefully. "Unfaithful" is a noir-ish testing of the R&B waters, and it goes so well that Rihanna wastes no time skinny-dipping her way into the deep end--"Final Goodbye," "P.S. (I'm Still Not Over You)," and "A Million Miles Away" all betray juicy bits of Beyonce. Back in barefoot bikini-girl land, though--a territory that covers roughly half this disc--the party's still going strong. Rihanna gives dancehall legend Sean Paul a run for his money with the bouncing "Break It Off," and "We Ride" makes you want to roll down the windows and stick your head out the passenger side. Crank it up and keep the sunglasses handy. --Tammy La Gorce

A good album from rihanna but not as good as her first October 25, 2008 Don't get me wrong this album is really good, but i feel her first album is better. Here's a review of each song: SOS-10/10 A brillant choice for the first single, a great dance tune Kisses don't lie-10/10 A great pop/rock tunes one of my favourites off the album Unfaithful-10/10 Written by ne-yo,it would defo be a hit which it was i think it went to number 2,i loved this song, but then i got bored of it coz it was being overplayed but now i love it again We ride-7/10 A good song from rihanna but not one of her best, i don't think it should have been released as a single Dem haters feat dwane husbands-10/10 A great tune about how to deal with haters Final goodbye-10/10 A nice ballad from rihanna Break it off feat sean paul-10/10 One of my favourite songs off the album, a great dancehall tune Crazy little thing called love feat j-status-10/10 A lovely song Selfish girl-10/10- Another good song p.s(i'm still not over you)-10/10 Rihanna singing about not being over someone completely, i'm sure everyone can relate A girl like me-10/10 A nice heartfelt song A million miles away-10/10 A lovely ballad, one of my favourite songs off the album. I'm not going to review the two bonus tracks as i reviewed them on her first album, its really annoying when they include her old songs from previous albums. I do like this album and i feel it needs to be in your collection.

Overall Rating: 9.5/10
Best follow up album and summer album of 2006 April 3, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This album's a masterpiece! here's my review of all the songs;
01. SOS - This is the first single and went to #2 in the UK charts and is at #8 in the overall chart of 2006. This is a classic and a sample of tainted love. What a dance track. 9/10
02. Kisses Don't Lie - A fantastic carribean song. 9/10
03. Unfaithful - An emotive ballad and my personal favourite on the album and is my favourite song ever. Simply the best track of 2006. Second single which peaked at #2 aswell (shoulda been number 1) and is at #24 in the overall chart of 2006. 100/10
04. We Ride - Third single which was a bit underrated hitting a poor #15. But is a great song on this album. And another carribean track. 9/10
05. Dem Haters - Another carribean track and is great but repetitive. 8/10
06. Final Goodbye - An effortless ballad which is lovely and is not exaggerated. 9/10
07. Break It Off - I love this song and shoulda been released. 9/10
08. Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Ok but nothing new. 7/10
09. Selfish Girl -Refreshing but the background music is so repetitive. 8/10
10. P.S. (I'm Still Not Over You) - One of my fav's, a lovely ballad. 9/10
11. A Girl Like Me - New background music finally, this is great. 8/10
12. Million Miles Away - A so beautiful and emotional ballad. 9/10
13. If It's Lovin' That You Want - Second single from her 2005 debut album 'Music Of The Sun'. Reached #11. A carribean track. 8/10
14. Pon De Replay - Her debut from August 2005. Reached #2. Not so 'carribeany' it's more clubby and a song you'll allways hear in a nightclub. 9/10.
I hope this review helped you. This is a great album and you should buy it, even if it's just for Unfaithful, SOS and all her other hits. Also look out for her new and third album which should be released in June 2007 on the 4th. The lead single is 'Umbrella' ft. Jay-Z. BUY IT!!!
