Keith Compilation May 1, 2008 I think the above review is a tad harsh. This album is good. Its not his most catchy joint but it grows on you. I'm a big Keith fan and this is proably the cd I listen to most often. It has variety. The beats are slow and heavy. The lyrics; off key. But thats what your expecting right? No sign osf Automator or Kut Master on this one but the production is pretty tight. I wouldnt recommend this one as a first Keith purchase but if you like him already, grab this one.
What happened to Kool Keith? September 14, 2003 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was thrilled to see that a new Kool Keith cd was on it's way.Being a long time fan of one of the most original artists in hip hop,I was anxious to get my hands on "The Lost Masters".But I must say that I was sadly dissappointed when I'd listened through the album. The combination of anger and humour as heard on Dr.Dooom and the Matthew album, seems to be lacking here. The beats range from boring to downright awful. The lyrics, which I've always considered to be Kool Keiths strongest side, are repetitive and lack perspective.I've just read that "The Lost Masters is a compilation of some older productions, which calms me down a bit.I just wonder why Kool Keith would allow something of such poor quality to be released. There are so few heros left in hip hop,and it would break my heart to see the true master fall off.In this world of watered down, materialist hip hop mongoloids like Jay z,Nelly and Puffy,we really need an old master like Kool Keith to come forth once in a while to set things straight.Come again,Rev.Tom.
