I so wanted to like this March 26, 2008 7 out of 15 found this review helpful
Over hyped and over produced. The songs are OK but the production is amongst the worst I've heard in recent years. Poor Alison is smothered by ponderous bass lines and Robert's voice.

I find this album beautifully performed. I did not have any previously conceived ideas about either performer but found the music spellbinding. It has a gentle mystical quality and their voices harmonize beautifully. I think the bringing together of two artists from differing genres of music,in this case has created something unique, well produced, and beautifully balanced.
Woeful I'm afraid March 11, 2008 4 out of 19 found this review helpful
A couple of days after buying the album the weekend arrived and the weather was perfect, a very repectable 14 for February so off we went to Alnmouth for a stroll on the beach. I played the disc in the car enroute and soon the feelgood factor changed to depression. My immediate reaction was "music for funeral services and other depressing events". The songs are dull, lack musicality and very repetitive. They are simply not engaging and totally uninspiring. Better to spend your hard earned cash on something more worthy.
The best CD I have bought for a while March 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love it, since getting the CD it has been going in the car non stop. The combination of their voices and the different music styles make this a listening pleasure. I was not dissappointed.
It adds up to Nothin' February 28, 2008 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
I'll be fair and give this album 1 star for musicianship and production and another for choice of songs. However, for me, the album only shows what great songs they were when sang by someone else. The songs lack any of their original height of passion, warmth or depth of despair and the low point is the song 'Nothin'. When I hear Townes Van Zantes sing this song I feel knocked over by his despair and self anger. Here Robert Plant and Alison Krauss give what they describe as a bluegrass version. Actually it's just sung in a bland wallpaper manner. And for me that sums up this album.
