I BOUGHT THIS ALBUM WHEN IT WAS FIRST RELEASED AND I STILL CANT GET ENOUGH OF IT.HE IS EASILY THE BEST R&B ACT OUT THERE AT THE MOMENT AND I JUST CANT WAIT TILL HE BRINGS OUT HES NEXT ALBUM. THE ALBUM HAS SOME QUALITY SONGS ON IT WHEATHER YOUR IN THE MOOD FOR SLOW SONGS OR SOMETHING MORE UP BEAT. MY FAVOURITE HAS TO BE TRACK 9 I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LISTENING TO IT.
Best RnB album of 2001 without a doubt June 17, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This has to be one of the best RnB albums around, and practically every single track on 8701 is great. The highlight of the album is If i want to, which has confident lyrics, fantastic beats and just a really good track. U got it bad, pop ya collar, u turn and hottest thing are also good songs. The only low point of this album is the last song Separated, which is just too slow, sappy and cliched, altho ushers voice is on top form. Definetly gets a 10 outta 10 from me.
Usher's best album so far - set to be an R'n'B classic May 11, 2003 This is a must for any Usher or R'n'B fans - it has the potential to appeal to a lot more people as well. It's a delight to listen to from start to finish, including the hit singles "Pop Ya Colla" and "U Got It Bad", and the stand-out tracks consist of beautiful ballad "Can U help me" and the slick "If I want to", which is probably the best of the lot. This album is a rarity - every track is quality and there are none of the usual mediocre "fillers". This is a slickly produced album which will have you wanting more from Usher (in which case, there are two other albums, but this is his best by far).
Deserves 8701 stars!! May 6, 2002 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've liked Usher ever since I heard the incredibly catchy 'Pop Ya Collar', so when I bought the album I was expecting great things - and I got them. Usher's collaboration with P Diddy 'I don't know' is fantastic but needs a few listens. The best songs on the album are 'If I want to', 'I can't let you go' 'TTP' and the imitable 'U-Turn'. There are a few slower songs but they are still fuelled with Usher's great voice, catchy lyrics and a slice of RnB served chilled. 'Seperated' will have you weeping in the aisles, and 'Hottest Thing' will get you bouncing at the club! You're missing out if you don't buy this album - Usher's 8701 deserves your attention!
Sexy solo star strikes again with a superb album April 22, 2002 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This album is by far the best i've ever bought. Each song is different in it's own way and Usher's amazing voice makes all the songs sound excellent. It has slow songs such as How do I say which has fantastic songwords, then theres the more up beat dance tracks like U Turn and If I want to which make you want to get up and try a bit of Ushers break dancing. There are 17 tracks including top hits like U Remind Me, U got it bad and Pop ya Collar but I couldn't pick a favourite song because they are all so good. P Diddy contributes on a couple of the tracks which also sounds great. If you love RnB or you want an album with a varaity of songs. Then id recommend this to you all
